Greg Sandow: the concert

Greg Sandow is a classical and pop music critic, consultant, and Juilliard faculty member who's well-known for his work on the future of classical music. He's also a composer, and this evening presents a cross-section of his own chamber and vocal work -- solo piano pieces performed by the pianist Jenny Lin; excerpts of an opera-in-progess based on Shakespeare; the premiere of a new string quartet, "Mahler Variations" (with a Proust and an Elvis variation), and more. One highlight: a quartet he wrote as a birthday surprise for his wife, Anne Midgette, the Washington Post's classical music critic.
