Jason R. Daisey has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2018. In this role, he oversees the management of WETA’s daily operations and works closely with WETA President and Chief Executive Officer Sharon Percy Rockefeller on the strategic vision for the company. Daisey is spearheading the WETA headquarters expansion project to build new television studios and digital production facilities. He has restructured local operations to develop new digital platforms; consolidate local television, radio and digital content into one organizational area; increase local-content production; and engage diverse audiences. Daisey is committed to fostering a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace, working with the WETA chief diversity officer.
Daisey joined WETA in 2017 as senior vice president and chief financial officer after seven years with Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., a national trade association representing 22,000 members engaged in commercial and industrial construction. His previous public media experience includes two years as executive vice president and chief financial officer of North Texas Public Broadcasting/KERA, the PBS and NPR affiliates in Dallas. Daisey led efforts to acquire a second FM signal, which today is a very successful AAA music-format radio station that complements KERA’s longstanding NPR radio station and its television channels.
Previously, Daisey worked at PBS, where he led efforts to build a systemwide strategic plan; organized and carried out a sizable restructure as a result of a challenging economy and threats to public broadcasting; and contributed to the team tasked with the PBS headquarters move and new satellite operations center build. Currently, Daisey serves on the board of the Public Media Venture Group, a nonprofit business development consortium of public media organizations that works to develop, test and launch services and revenue streams that leverage new technologies to further the mission of public media.
Daisey received his B.B.A. in finance, magna cum laude, and his M.B.A. in business strategy from Loyola University Maryland. He is a certified public accountant and has been recognized by BisNow as a 2015 Trending 40 CFO in Nonprofits and Associations and by DCA Live as a 2018 Trending 40 CFO in Nonprofits. In addition, Daisey was honored with an Association Trends! Nonprofit Chief Financial Officer of the Year Rising Star Award in 2012.
He and his husband, Malcolm Harkins IV, have a son and reside in Middletown, Maryland.
