WETA Arts December 2024: Songs of the Season

Cathedral Choral Society is Washington, D.C.’s oldest symphonic chorus. The 130 singers that make up this GRAMMY-nominated choir come from all backgrounds, from politicos and government workers to schoolteachers and professional musicians. For more than 80 years the Choral Arts Society of Frederick has cultivated a vibrant, inclusive, multigenerational community through the study and performance of high quality choral music. Performing all genres of music on their home stage at Frederick Community College, CASF is known for bringing a dynamic and invigorating concert set to every season. The Chester River Chorale serves the community of Chestertown, Maryland. They are a non-auditioned ensemble whose members range from those with professional music experience to singers who do not read music, and range in age from teenagers to octogenarians. The Children's Chorus of Washington (CCW) nurtures artistic excellence and empowers young singers by celebrating our shared humanity and the value of every voice. The Washington Master Chorale is a vibrant 50-voice mixed chorus, comprised of professional and volunteer singers, that focuses on choral repertoire that emphasizes music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Choir of The Church of the Epiphany consists of professional section leaders and volunteers. They execute their mission through their service to the poor and through the gift of music, and do outreach throughout Washington DC and its neighboring areas, as well as with the homeless community. The Manassas Chorale was founded in 1994, and the original group of about 25 singers has since quadrupled in size to become a 100-voice auditioned organization. As a Strathmore Education program, Strathmore Children’s Chorus (SCC) provides children of all backgrounds excellence in choral artistry, promotes their self-expression, and offers them professional performance opportunities.
