Hybrid

Welcome to the American Midwest: land of corn, and visionary farmers like Milford Beeghly. Beginning in the 1930s, his company "Beeghly's Best Hybrids" worked to develop genetically enhanced corn. Beeghly's grandson, filmmaker Monteith McCollum, combines interviews, archival footage and animation to create a portrait of this decidedly odd man, and the rich Iowa farmland that inspired his efforts.
