Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the war in Gaza in a joint address to Congress, despite protests and partisan politics that led dozens of Democrats to boycott the speech. Netanyahu disparaged protesters outside the U.S. Capitol and blamed Hamas for the deaths of civilians who have been killed in 9 months of war. Nick Schifrin reports.

Prime Minister Netanyahu called on the U.S. to stand with Israel in a speech to Congress that many Democrats boycotted. To delve into what was said, Nick Schifrin spoke with Tom Malinowski, a former Democratic member of the House and a State Department human rights official under President Obama, and Kirsten Fontenrose, who served on the Trump National Security Council focused on the Mideast.

President Biden will address the nation Wednesday night from the Oval Office and explain his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race. It comes as Vice President Kamala Harris is moving closer to locking up her party’s nomination for president and as she navigates a high-stakes visit from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
