A federal judge temporarily blocked President Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship, the first legal test for his flurry of immigration actions. Birthright citizenship was enshrined in the Constitution in 1868 and upheld by the Supreme Court in 1898. Washington is one of 22 states suing Trump over his order.
