After living five years underground as a juvenile, this adult male stag beetle has only a few weeks to find a mate. Not only must he find a female, but he also must fend off other males in his pursuit.

During the mating season, tensions are high among the male bears of Transylvania as they search for mates. The males battle to show off for potential partners.

Transylvania is a wonderland for bats, home to 26 kinds. Romania has more than 12,000 caves, which are critical sanctuaries for Transylvania’s bats.
