Beyond the Bridge is the story of two community leaders who turned a practical conversation about light bulbs and safety into an international public art festival in Mexico. Considered an act of Creative Placemaking, the Akumal Arts Festival united all sectors of the community to collaborate with artists and strengthen the local web of life.

In February 1945, the U.S. Army sent the Six Triple Eight, 855 women from the Women's Army Corps (WACs), to England and France to clear the backlog of mail in the European Theater of Operations. They were the only predominantly-Black female battalion to serve in Europe during WWII, and were confronted with racism and sexism from their own leadership and troops.

In the 1970s, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the constitutionality of busing children to achieve racial integration in schools. One African-American teacher and principal, Dotson Burns, Jr, navigates the frustration among students and teachers at an elementary school in Prince George's County, Maryland.

In 1918, the U.S. Army Signal Corps sent 223 women to France as telephone operators to help win the Great War. They were intrepid, united in a common cause and like Joan of Arc before them, they wanted to save France. Told through 100-year-old letters, photos, rare archival footage, and interviews with family and historians, this documentary brings to life a story that was almost entirely unknown.
