In adulthood, Ed immerses himself in his father’s beekeeping business, but his interest in mountaineering never wanes. After a visit to the Auckland Alpine Club, he meets Mick, who helps him on his first climb on Mount Oliver. Though Ed is a novice climber, he impresses Mick with his ability to learn quickly and his desire to reach the summit.
