The song's music composer Luis Bacalov won the Best Score Award from Italy’s Nastro d’Argento, the equivalent of the Oscars in that country. The film was directed by Michael Radford and starred Massimo Troisi (1953 – 1994) as the simple mail man who discovers poetry.

The film version based on the musical opened on December 25, 1996, and starred Madonna as Evita Perón. Scherzinger began her career with the Pussycat Dolls and starred in Cats in London.
