On my 2nd installment of Women’s Voices in Classical on WETA Virtuoso (March 18 at 2PM) I’m looking at a pianist and recording you have likely never heard of, Eileen Flissler.

This page is a visual accompaniment (that includes spoilers) to what we are going to learn about her, and I’ll explain the pertinent clues and details that I notice about the physical album cover, and we will be listening to the entire recording as well.

The album cover front/back shows missing details, like full color printing, no label listed above "stereo" and more. Indicating this was also a budget project.

The vinyl record, in great condition as it was probably played once or perhaps never.

Flyers found inside the album jacket, not an usual thing to see in old records. Sometimes listeners would stick newspaper clippings, notes, etc. inside along the record. But in this case, it was done with intention as the record was handed off to a critic. (spoilers ahead!)

The envelope to letter found in the album jacket, in pristine condition.

A letter from a prolific and well known piano teacher at the time to Paul Hume. You'll have to listen to the episode to learn all about this!
