Donald Trump is closing in on the GOP presidential nomination, achieving something at this early stage that very few candidates have attained and opening the door for the longest general election season in recent history. But his campaign will play out to a large degree in courtrooms, as it did Friday in New York, where a jury ordered him to pay E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million for defaming her.
