Troubled Waters

Marianne Desbiens returns home to Queensbury following a career-ending blunder and is immediately put on the case of a woman found dead near the Matagamie River – a case that takes a personal turn when she discovers the victim’s identity.

As the investigation stalls, Marianne learns that her son Billy has run away to find his father. Later, with Billy’s help, Marianne learns a little more about the events that preceded the murder of the young girl.

The list of suspects grows as Marianne discovers that an important witness is hiding the truth from her. What really happened on the night of the murder? Meanwhile, Marianne is haunted by her demons. Will she be able to cope with her past?

During a vigil in memory of missing Indigenous women, new evidence could tip the investigation. But with the disappearance of her main witness, Marianne must separate fact from fiction to get at the truth – which may be difficult to hear.
