Affordable Heart Surgery; Jewish Environmentalism

The environmental group Hazon sponsors a fellowship for young Jews who want to learn about sustainable farming practices while also focusing on spirituality and community life. For the group's leaders, agriculture and concern for the environment has always been a part of Jewish tradition, and they hope young Jews will play an important role in building a healthier and more sustainable world.

Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, a heart surgeon in India, runs a network of for-profit hospitals that perform world-class operations at a small fraction of what they would cost in the U.S. He is driven by his belief that even the most sophisticated surgery should be available to the world's poorest people.
