Vernon Jordan, civil rights leader and mentor, dies at 85

American civil rights activist, presidential confidant and corporate pioneer Vernon Jordan has died at the age of 85. A family statement said he passed Monday in Atlanta. Jordan was a leading advocate for Black Americans and a mentor to those who came after him.
