A federal appeals court in Washington rejected Donald Trump's claims of presidential immunity for actions he took to remain in office after the 2020 election. It clears the way for his federal trial on conspiracy and obstruction charges to move forward, but Trump is expected to appeal the ruling. William Brangham reports.

For the first time, a parent has been convicted in a mass school shooting. Jennifer Crumbley was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter after her son, Ethan Crumbley, killed four students and injured seven others in 2021 at Oxford High in Michigan. The gunman was sentenced to life in prison without parole. His mother faces up to 60 years in prison. Geoff Bennett discussed more with Ekow Yankah.

The Senate border compromise has already hit a legislative wall. Senate Republicans announced they will block the long-negotiated proposal that would address the border crisis and provide aid to Ukraine and Israel. Congressional Correspondent Lisa Desjardins reports from Capitol Hill on where things stand.
