Founded in 1961, It’s Academic is recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s longest-running TV quiz show, and it has become a beloved institution in the DC region. Each season, students from approximately 81 high schools in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia compete on the program in pursuit of the coveted Championship title.
The Friends of It’s Academic is composed of individuals and family foundations who provide support for the program each season, enabling it to remain on the air as a unique platform to spotlight academic achievement and intellectual curiosity. Your generous support will continue to keep It’s Academic on the air and will make a positive impact in the lives of hundreds of students each season.
A donation of $100 or more for the 65th Anniversary Season qualifies as a Founding Member of the Friends of It’s Academic. Your name will be listed on the WETA It’s Academic website and will appear on-screen in the credits at the end of each program. Contributions of $1,000 or more are eligible for enhanced on-air recognition. With your tax-deductible gift, you'll help keep It's Academic on public television as a special place to celebrate students and academic achievement.
