Hotel Portofino

Set in the breathtakingly beautiful resort town of Portofino, this series is about personal awakening at a time of global upheaval in the traumatic aftermath of World War I.

The flair of the Hotel Portofino and the charm of the era are on full display as everyone shares a dinner. Lucian and Anish sneak off to have an evening swim. Meanwhile, Bella and Alice discuss the potential of Lucian's new arranged match. Alice is indignant, as Lucian does not seem interested in any serious romance and their father has not lifted a finger to find her a new husband.

Cecil arranges for a family heirloom to be sent from England for authentication. Bella is horrified when he also invites her blackmailer, Signor Danioni, for tea. Lucian gives Rose a painting lesson on the beach with an unfortunate outcome.

Another exciting guest arrives at the hotel, a highly regarded tennis player and his wife. He's not the only fresh face to roll through that afternoon, as Cecil brings along a new friend that Bella seems uncomfortable with. Meanwhile, Lucian gathers a quirky crew together for a beach day, though he is unable to win over Lady Latchmere. Rose is just as lucky, still unable to please her mother.

Lucian and his friend, Nish, run into trouble with Danioni's Blackshirts. Constance is encouraged to make more of her appearance by the hotel's most worldly guest, Claudine Pascal, while Bella throws a tea party for the locals.

It's post time! Alice's mood brightens when she is invited to supper with an important dignitary. Bella takes care to thank Count Albani, who seems to have been responsible for negotiating the social invite. Lady Latchmere is less certain about his generosity, suspecting that Albani is interested in romance – though she is more concerned for herself than Bella or Alice.

Lucien hides Rose in the hotel bathroom from her overbearing mother. Meanwhile, Bella converses with Julia about their children's marital compatibility. Julia, suppressing her years of indignance toward Bella and Cecils’ marriage, verbally questions whether "love ever trumps money."

Nish has an epiphany as he and Lucian escape arrest at Danioni's behest. Constance catches Lucian's eye on a boat trip but sees more than she bargained for in return. Bella stands up to Danioni, who hands over a compromising letter to her husband.

The police search for the missing heirloom, and suspicion falls on an absent guest and the bellhop, Billy, who has also hidden political pamphlets at Nish's behest. The search culminates in a confrontation between Cecil and Jack.

Mistaking Roberto's affection towards Constance as adoration for her, Alice speaks to Count Albani about offering her services to teach Roberto English. Alice soon begins to regret her decision when she observes Roberto complimenting Constance when she serves him a plate of cookies.

The mystery of the missing heirloom is resolved as Cecil makes a surprising discovery about Danioni. Lucian acknowledges his true feelings until a secret from Constance's past is unveiled, forcing him to decide on his prospective engagement to Rose.
