The Half Brother

In 1945, Vera is raped in her attic and gives birth to Fred. 43 years later, Vera’s other son, Barnum, stumbles upon a picture of his half-brother.

Barnum’s parents head back to Rost to get Barnum baptized. Adult Barnum finds a journalist who wrote about Fred when he was a promising boxer.

Fred looks for his biological father. To draw attention to his disappearance, Barnum publishes a fake article about two murders Fred is guilty of.

Vera sends Barnum off to dancing school, while adult Barnum stumbles upon new clues concerning Fred’s last whereabouts before he disappeared.

Arnold rents a stadium to teach the lads how to throw the discus, but Fred’s accidentally hits Arnold in the head, killing him instantly.

Upon Arnold’s burial, the arrival of the circus director causes quite a stir amongst the family, as he reveals parts of their late father’s past.

Young Barnum’s feelings for Vivian grow ever fonder, but when he realizes that Fred likes her as well and confronts him, his half-brother disappears.

Barnum decides to leave Vivian, and heads back to Rost, where he finds the answers to the half-brother riddle. Will they be able to reunite at last?
