Acquitted

Back when Aksel was a teenager, he was acquitted of the murder of his high school sweetheart, Karine--though everyone still thinks he is guilty. Forced to leave his hometown, he returns 20 years later as the town's savior.

Eva is doing her best to keep PWG away from Solar Tech, but people in the small town are starting to see the value of keeping the cornerstone company alive. The Hansteen family is split: keep the family company or sell to the enemy.

Aksel must stay in Lifjord to look for a new Solar Tech CEO when Eva decides to leave the company. Meanwhile, Aksel realizes that his family had it tough after he left and tries to make amends. Tonje may be the only friend Aksel has.

Aksel has to juggle his relationship with Tonje when his wife and son arrive in Lifjord. He is forced to tell Angeline about Karine, but he is not telling her the whole truth. Meanwhile, Eva is determined to reopen the case against Aksel.

Angeline no longer believes in Aksel’s innocence, and he needs Tonje’s help to prove he’s not guilty. Meanwhile, William looks at the possibilities of investing in the hotel and PWG are preparing for cuts at Solar Tech.

Angeline wants to go home, but after receiving revealing photos of Karine, Aksel feels he must stay. Eva is still trying to prove Aksel’s guilt, while Aksel does his own investigating. The more he digs, the more he questions his innocence.

Aksel is hunting the person who took the nude photos of Karine. He has a suspect and may have a plan to get someone to testify on his behalf. Meanwhile, William and Inger’s plans to expand the hotel are in motion with Eva on board.

Aksel finds out more people have been lying to him about the night of the murder. He is deeply conflicted but decides to believe in his own innocence – for his son’s sake. Changes at Solar Tech are frustrating for Lifjord’s citizens.

The police are looking for Aksel’s bloody t-shirt from the night Karine was killed. Aksel still can’t remember anything but confesses to the murder anyway, though the case takes a surprising turn with another unexpected confession.

Aksel reconciles with his past. Angeline returns to Lifjord, though Tonje and Aksel continue their affair. Aksel must choose between two lives. Meanwhile, the police believe they’ve solved Karine’s murder. Eva suspects otherwise.
