It’s back to Beethoven this week as we continue celebrating his recent 250th birth anniversary. The young Israeli conductor Lahav Shani will be a new name for many but he’s a rising star across Europe. As music director he follows in the big footsteps of Zubin Mehta with the Israel Philharmonic and Yannick Nézet-Séguin with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. This recording showcases not only his conducting skills in Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony but also his keyboard mastery in the Fourth Piano Concerto as he plays and conducts.
