Music of Maurice Ravel and Hans Rott
Austrian composer Hans Rott was a young up-and-coming composer in late 19th-century Vienna; his music was praised by Mahler and Bruckner. He died before the age of 30, leaving behind one symphony, his Symphony No. 1 in E major. In this concert, Paavo Järvi conducts the Berlin Philharmonic to revive Hans Rott's Symphony No. 1. Also, pianist Lang Lang joins the orchestra for Maurice Ravel's singular Piano Concerto in G major.
