Presented by the Arts Club of Washington

Counterpoint Concerts, founded by pianist Natalia Kazaryan, states their goal is to blend tradition, innovation, and community in concerts that "foster genuine connections between audience members and performers..."

From the concert program:

A Mendelssohnian earnestness shines through in an early composition by the great Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko, which is paired with the String Quartet No. 8 by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, famously dedicated to the victims of war and fascism. Written during a time of deep despair for the composer, the work is considered to be autobiographical in nature and contains depictions of violence and anguish tempered by moments of hope.

All ticket proceeds will be donated to Revived Soldiers, a charity providing prosthetic and medical care to wounded soldiers.
