Classical Countdown

Classical Countdown

A Thanksgiving Tradition on Classical WETA 90.9 FM

Classical WETA's annual listeners' choice competition lets YOU determine the most popular classical pieces in the DC area. We play back the top 100 picks during Thanksgiving week, counting down to the top piece, which airs on Thanksgiving night.

This year’s Classical Countdown omits Beethoven, as a demonstration of what we’d miss if we didn’t have his ever-popular works to enjoy. But we’ll give Beethoven his own Countdown on his 250th birthday, December 16.
