Small changes or ideas in one's life can lead to drastically different futures, and we would not be where we are today with the trumpet if it weren't for Joseph Haydn and trumpet player/inventor Anton Weidinger. Together, they changed the future of the trumpet, allowing it to play in any key or register. In this episode, John Banther and Evan Keely explore its origins and the invention that made it possible, how Haydn tricked the audience, and what to listen for in modern recordings.
