Sometimes an artist has to go back and edit or re-work something from earlier in their career. Verdi had a similar experience in that if he wanted his grand operas to be staged in Paris, he had to include ballet. This meant that he was occasionally writing new music for an opera that had premiered decades earlier, and perhaps you can even tell!
