In Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, the King, through horrifying circumstances loses his crown when his identity is revealed. We'll hear Igor Stravinsky's operatic oratorio with English narration, soloists, chorus, and orchestra. We'll follow with choral highlights from Felix Mendelssohn's Oedipus and Colonus (the sequel to Oedipus Rex).
