World Premiere Recording, 1994, Washington National Cathedral
In 1824, a young Hector Berlioz composed a Messe Solennelle, then destroyed it after just two performances. But a copy surfaced in 1991, and it was presented for the first time in North America by J. Reilly Lewis and the Cathedral Choral Society at a 1994 concert at the Cathedral. We'll hear it this weekend on Choral Showcase.
