Congratulations are in order for DC‘s maestro, Gianandrea Noseda. The Zurich Opera today announced that Noseda’s contract as General Music Director will extend to the 2027-2028 season.
Since taking the helm last season, Noseda has already raised the profile of the opera company with the development of a new production of Wagner’s Ring cycle. Das Rheingold premiered last spring, Die Walküre just concluded its run this fall, Siegfried will follow in the spring, and Götterdämmerung will open next season.
Maestro Noseda is a passionate and thoughtful conductor, which is a great combination when approaching Wagner’s complex works. We’ll be sharing details of this compelling new Ring production as it unfolds in Zurich over the next year.
This news from Zurich follows on the heels of the National Symphony Orchestra’s recent announcement that Maestro Noseda’s contract as Music Director will extend through the 2026-2027 season. Lucky for us in the DMV to be a major part of Noseda’s conducting circuit.
He’s in town right now, conducting several concerts with the NSO before returning to Europe. As the season progresses, we’ll be following his activities here and at many of the great concert halls and opera houses, answering the question “Where in the world is Maestro Noseda?”
