July 7: Wintergreen Music Festival - Music & Nature Hike I – Our Bold & Brilliant Mountain

Wintergreen Music partners with The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen in this first of two special event collaborations. Your hike will begin as Nature Foundation guides, Artistic Director Erin Freeman, and Festival Artists Tim Hudson (trumpet) and Myles Blakemore (trombone) connect us with the bold and brilliant aspects of our natural Mountain landscape.

Trail point and logistics to be shared after ticket purchase. Hike level: beginner to moderate. Advance purchase required; space is limited.

July 8: Wintergreen Music Festival - Fresh Perspectives I: Monuments in Sound

Enjoy an evening of expressive chamber music in the grandeur of the Dunlop Pavilion. The concert begins with Camille Saint-Saëns’ shimmering and impressive Fantaisie for Violin and Harp—a repeat performance with Elisabeth Adkins (violin) and Eric Sabatino (harp), presented by popular demand. We continue our multiyear deep dive into the sonatas of Johannes Brahms’ with his first Cello Sonata No. 1, a deeply expressive work of warmth and contrast. The concert concludes with Florence Price’s Piano Quintet No. 1,  a monumental work of vibrant energy and rhythmic vitality, culminating in the spirited Juba dance. 

July 9: Wintergreen Music Festival - Mix, Mingle & Music I: Vibrancy at the Vineyard at Valley Road Vineyards

Relax and savor an evening of chamber music at Valley Road Vineyards with Kenji Bunch’s lively String Circle, a playful journey through grooves, ballads, and porch-inspired rhythms; Franz Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in G Major, which blends elegance, wit, and classical refinement; and Endre Szervánszky’s delightful Woodwind Quintet No. 1, offering vibrant interplay, lyrical beauty, and spirited energy. Wine will be available for purchase.

July 10: Heifetz Institute - Celebrity Series

The Friday night concerts are a showcase for dazzling performances by the world-renowned Heifetz faculty, preceded as always by the complimentary Heifetz Happy Hour, featuring regional wines, craft beers, and light refreshments.

Celebrated conductor Vinay Parameswaran leads the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra for “Highways & Harmonies,” an evening celebrating the open road through music. The program opens with Caroline Shaw’s sparkling Entr’acte, followed by a special performance of Michael Daugherty’s Songs of the Open Road featuring Festival Artists Kelly Mozeik (oboe) and Jacob Wilder (horn). From the windswept cliffs of California’s Big Sur to the sun-soaked highways of Key West, each movement paints a vivid musical journey across America’s landscapes. After intermission, the orchestra performs Mozart’s regal Symphony No. 39, a work of elegance, grandeur, and timeless beauty.

July 11: Wintergreen Music Festival - From Mozart to the Mountain – Bluegrass, Chorus, and Chamber Music

In this unique concert format, Erin Freeman, the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, Festival and Guests Artists, LEAD vocal soloists, and the Sing with Us! Chorus combines to showcase what makes Wintergreen Music so special. Mozart’s youthful Violin Sonata No. 18 opens the program, followed by movements from Scott Wheeler’s captivating Blue Ridge Suite for viola and piano and the world premiere choral arrangement of Susan Greenbaum’s Virginia, the Home of My Heart, complete with solo fiddle. The afternoon concludes with Mozart’s radiant Missa brevis in D Major, blending sacred grandeur with intimate beauty. Celebrate voices, instruments, and the mountain spirit in this truly special concert experience.

July 11: Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Brilliant Beginnings: Mozart and Beethoven

Mozart’s Symphony No. 1, written at age eight, sparkles with youthful brilliance, while Beethoven’s First Symphony reveals a composer already pushing boundaries. Finnish pianist Juho Pohjonen joins the BSO for Mozart’s elegant Piano Concerto No. 12 in this SummerFest celebration of genius in its earliest form.

The one night a summer that we reserve for our outstanding faculty pianists! They get an evening of their own to display their keyboard wizardry in an evening of multi-handed piano pyrotechnics.
