July 12: Wintergreen Music - Worlds Collide, 6PM
Having studied in Boston and in Vienna with Joseph Joachim, Japanese composer Nobu Kōda’s music is as unique as it is traditional. Violinist Elizabeth Vonderheide and pianist Eddie Newmam kick off a richly romantic evening of chamber music and bring this memorable piece to life. Combined with a colorful woodwind quintet by Kōda’s contemporary from Berlin, Theodor Blumer, and the incredible (and quirky) “Trout” quintet by Franz Schubert, this concert is sure to remind you why chamber music can be reflective, intimate, and moving!
Featuring Festival Artists: Elisabeth Adkins, violin; Elizabeth Vonderheide, violin; Steve Larson, viola; David Bjella, cello; Dee Moses, bass; Eddie Newman, piano; Lance Suzuki, flute; Alexandra Knoll, oboe; Charles Messersmith, clarinet; Aaron Apaza, bassoon; Brandon Nichols, horn

Trumpeters can be lyrical, joyful painters and poets – especially under the skillful mastery of Mary Elizabeth Bowden. Clarice Assad’s Bohemian Queen (Co-Commissioned by Wintergreen Music) paints a musical picture of Chicago artist Gertrude Abercrombie, while Reena Esmail’s world premiere of Rosa de Sal takes you on a dream-like journey of beauty and love.
