Classical Breakdown returns for Season 4! We are excited for another season of great explorations of our classical favorites, both old and new. John Banther and Bill Bukowski kick off the season with a deep-dive into a favorite from the repertoire, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. So many of us know and love this tour-de-force for piano and orchestra, but John and Bill shed new fun facts and a fresh perspective, including Rachmaninoff's secret weapon for performing this piece.
Bel canto Bellini on Opera Matinee
Opera Matinee presents Vincenzo Bellini’s final work, I Puritani, Saturday at 1PM ET. It is a masterpiece about conflicted love set against 17th century English civil war, elevated with the most sublime music of Bellini's bel canto style. We hear a production of Teatro dell’Opera Rome, starring Jessica Pratt and John Osborn, led by Roberto Abbado.
