In 2024, the Washington National Opera commissioned Grammy Award-winning composer Christopher Tin and Emmy-winning playwright, screenwriter, and librettist Susan Soon He Stanton to write a world-premiere ending to Puccini’s final, unfinished work, Turandot. At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Turandot is making a big splash, 100 years after its premiere in Milan. Japanese figure skater and 2022 silver medalist, Yuma Kagiyama, will pay homage to Puccini by skating in the men’s freestyle competition to a special version of Christopher Tin’s Turandot finale.

Learn more about the new ending by Christopher Tin and Susan Soon He Stanton and Yuma Kagiyama's upcoming freestyle below, and join us on WETA Virtuoso on February 12 at 9AM and 5PM to hear the new finale recorded with an all-star cast of Christine Goerke, Clay Hilley, the English National Opera, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
