Choral music is for the birds, this weekend on Choral Showcase. With Igor Stravinsky's mini-opera, The Nightingale; and Einojuhani Rautavaara's Cantus arcticus, a Concerto for Birds and Orchestra.

Opera Matinee

Opera Matinee presents Wozzeck. Berg's drama from 1922, set in 15 short scenes, is a powerful and brutal story of a destitute soldier's suffering, undoing and death, and depicts the everyday lives of soldiers and townspeople of a rural German-speaking town.  Christian Gerhaher sings the title role, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, in this production of Royal Opera House in London.
