There are so many wonderful ways to launch the New Year: from fireworks to Hoppin’ John, open houses to polar bear plunges, but here’s a most harmonious one: kick off 2025 with glorious music from NSO Showcase on January 8. National Symphony Orchestra music director Gianandrea Noseda leads the ensemble in a superb program featuring a favorite of Maestro Noseda’s: Alfredo Casella’s Symphony No.3. The concert opens with the über-romantic Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture by Tchaikovsky. All the music was recorded at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Tune in to NSO Showcase Wednesday evening, January first at 9:00 on WETA Classical; the program streams all month here.
