I did think I did see Heaven before me and the great God himself

Handel confided to his servant after toiling in a windowless room for 24 days to compose Messiah. Each December, NSO Showcase presents a performance of Handel’s Messiah from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This month’s offering is conducted by the acclaimed early music expert, Fabio Biondi. Soloists Liv Redpath, Hannah Ludwig, Matthew Myers and Neal Davies join the Choral Arts Society of Washington for what The Washington Post called an incendiary performance:

“This was a Messiah on fire—with a chorus that felt as combustible as the orchestra. They delivered a smoldering fugue in Part II and simmering tension in Part III. The chorus here felt like a true counterpart of the orchestra—a manifestation of divine symmetry.”
