The singers in the University of Maryland chorus had their masks on in December 2021 for a performance of Bach’s Magnificat and Part I of Handel’s Messiah. And, as the Washington Post wrote: “If there was the equivalent to a Christmas gift at the heart of the concert, it was the opportunity to hear five of the WNO’s Cafritz Young Artists in full focus.” Gianandrea led the concert, conducting Messiah with the NSO for the first time.  As noted above, the concert will feature Part I of Messiah, but guess what the encore will be!  I’ll give you a hint: you’ll be tempted to stand when you hear it. It’s our holiday gift to you, and best of all, you can stream the program all month long, to keep you in the spirit.
