This month's WETA Arts features the extraoridinary pianist who is on a monumental quest for Chopin. Since 2011, the National Philharmic and Strathmore have been hosting a concert series intended to showcase the entirety of 19th-century composer Frédéric Chopin's massive body of work – over 240 compositions in total – with one pianist: Silver Spring, MD-based Brian Ganz.

We meet a man whose passion for Chopin's music has guided him as a musician, and as a person. He captivates audiences, and he inspires future generations of pianists. From the stage to the classroom, the segment explores Ganz’s development as a pianist, his changing relationship to his art, and his insights into Chopin's artistry.

Additionally, Ganz sits down with our host and fellow pianist Matthew Dayton to talk about his early influences, the poetic nature of Chopin, and more in the interview linked below.

You can enjoy a live performance by Ganz on February 28th, as a part of the on-going Chopin initiative, in a program titled An Evening of Chopin with Brian Ganz: Happy Birthday, Fryderyk!.

Be sure to catch Ganz on this month's WETA Arts streaming on the PBS app and at WETA.org. You can also watch over the airwaves during the following airtimes:
