20-Finger Orchestra on Front Row Washington

You've probably never heard the Candide Overture or The Rite of Spring distilled down to a piano duo. ZOFO tackles some of the most demanding orchestral works and originals for piano four hands!

Since joining forces as a professional duo in 2009, internationally acclaimed solo pianists Eva-Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi - ZOFO - have electrified audiences from Carnegie Hall to Tokyo Japan with their dazzling artistry and outside-the-box thematic programming for piano-four-hands. This GRAMMY-nominated, prize-winning Steinway Artist Ensemble - one of only a handful of duos worldwide devoted exclusively to piano duets - is blazing a bold new path for four-hands groups by focusing on 20th and 21st century repertoire and by commissioning new works from noted composers each year.

ZOFO stands for 20-Finger Orchestra.

Summer on Choral Showcase

Summer is here, so we'll offer summery music on Choral Showcase with one of the oldest songs we know, "Sumer is icumen in," sung by The Hilliard Ensemble. The Summer is Coming, an ode to the season by Herbert Howells, is paired with Arnold Bax's Enchanted Summer. And from Amy Beach, The Canticle of the Sun comes from a prayer by St. Francis of Assisi; and Jocelyn Hagen's soft blink of amber light is an ode to the fireflies - and memories - of a long ago summer night.

Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, is a dramatic story of fidelity, courage and triumph over struggle.  Acclaimed tenor Brandon Jovanovich stars as the political prisoner Florestan and Anja Kampe as Leonore, in a production of the Vienna State Opera, led by Axel Kober.
