Job Title: Transmission Supervisor

Reports To: Director, Production Services

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate: $2,482.69 per-week

The Transmission Supervisor will oversee operations for live and taped network productions in the studios A, B & C. Qualified candidates must have thorough knowledge of Robo Camera control, audio signal flow and optimization of the transmission operations. Prior experience working with transmission, robotics, and video required:

  • Tele-stream recording software
  • Routing incoming and outgoing video sources
  • LiveU routing
  • AVOC switch routing
  • Cap Hub internal routing matrix
  • Grass Valley Robotic Camera & Video controls
  • Cobalt frame sync control
  • Vinten robotics operation
  • LAWO audio concepts (one-man band setup)
  • BOYCE tower control operation

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Familiar with the operation of television production intercom systems and software including IFB’s and Telephone Interfaces, and other technology used in broadcast production
  • Working knowledge of Grass Valley routing system
  • Working knowledge of Robotic camera, systems a plus
  • Working knowledge of studio positions including Studio Camera, Stage Manager and Transmission Ingest
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure in live, fast-paced network environment
  • Must be able to think quickly, communicate well and keep pace with fast-moving shows
  • Experience with AVID iNews a plus

EDUCATION:

  • Seven years’ experience in a live, network production environment
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

LOCATION:

WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
