In our news wrap Monday, Democratic leaders criticized freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for a tweet accusing a powerful pro-Israel lobbying group of paying members of Congress to support Israel. Also, a Democratic delegate from Virginia backed down on his threat to begin impeachment proceedings against Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax.

About 700 victims were sexually abused, assaulted or raped by Southern Baptist Church leaders and volunteers across two decades, according to a six-month joint investigation by the Houston Chronicle and The San Antonio Express. The papers also detailed how church officials brushed aside repeated warnings of trouble. William Brangham talks to Robert Downen of the Houston Chronicle for more.

Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar became the fifth senator and fifth woman to announce she's joining the crowded 2020 race to take on President Trump. Meanwhile, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren made her campaign official. Judy Woodruff reports.

Denver public school teachers went on strike Monday for the first time in 25 years. Much of the fight comes down to a pay system known that involves a complicated merit and bonus system, and that teachers say is vastly outdated. For more, Amna Nawaz is joined by Madeline Will of Education Week.

Erica Dawson, a professor and writer, said she was surprised while on book tour recently to be faced with the same question over and over again, about speaking for “the black experience.” Black poets "never went away. We don’t only deserve the stage in tumultuous times. We aren’t just rage," says Dawson, who shares her humble opinion on recognizing individual voices.

It has been almost a year since Kremlin intelligence officers attempted to kill a Russian defector in the British city of Salisbury by poisoning him with a nerve agent. That attack, and the subsequent death of a British woman, scared away tourists and shoppers, but authorities and residents are working to get the town’s economy back on track.
