Belarus voters will go to polls on Sunday in what has turned out to be a surprisingly competitive presidential election with longtime authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko facing a challenge from a political novice. Over the last few weeks, the country’s relationship with its neighbor, Russia, has soured over allegations of election interference. Special Correspondent Simon Ostrovsky reports.

While national and state eviction moratoriums have temporarily helped slow a pandemic-induced housing and homelessness crisis, they have a long-term impact. Matthew Desmond, a professor at Princeton University who helped build the first nationwide database on evictions joins Hari Sreenivasan to discuss the looming crisis and possible solutions.

Protests in Beirut over the Lebanese government’s response to the deadly blast on Tuesday, which killed at least 158 people and injured 6,000, turned violent with security forces firing several rounds of tear gas as some demonstrators set fires and threw objects at the police. Special Correspondent Leila Molana-Allen reports on the widespread anger in Lebanon and the rescue mission underway.
