Celebrate the holidays with the 5th annual WETA Arts presentation of Songs of the Season. A WETA holiday tradition, this hour-long program offers beautiful vocal performances from 15 area choral groups.

The D.C.-area choral scene is one of the nation’s strongest, with choirs of all sizes, shapes and voices performing in venues large and small. 

This holiday season, WETA Arts offers viewers the opportunity to experience the magic of 15 of these choral ensembles, all from the comfort of their living rooms. The hour-long program features children’s choirs, professional companies, small closed-harmony groups, massive choruses, and more. Singers of all ages and backgrounds make this a magical showcase of the talent our region has to offer. Songs of the Season premieres December 9 at 9:30 p.m. and streams for free on the PBS app.

Washington Douglass Chorale

Washington Douglass Chorale

Cathedral Choral Society

Cathedral Choral Society

Cathedral Choral Society is Washington, D.C.’s oldest symphonic chorus. The 130 singers that make up this GRAMMY-nominated choir come from all backgrounds, from politicos and government workers to schoolteachers and professional musicians. Their audience is not just local but worldwide – DC, Maryland, and Virginia residents with all sorts of interests frequent their concerts, and their livestreams have attracted viewers from over 50 different countries. The Choral Arts Society of Frederick

The Choral Arts Society of Frederick

For more than 80 years the Choral Arts Society of Frederick has cultivated a vibrant, inclusive, multigenerational community through the study and performance of high quality choral music. Performing all genres of music on their home stage at Frederick Community College, CASF is known for bringing a dynamic and invigorating concert set to every season. They are Frederick's oldest community choir and are comprised of students from Frederick Community College and the community. Singers range from 18-81 years of age and are from all walks of life. The Chester River Chorale serves the community of Chestertown, Maryland. They are a non-auditioned ensemble whose members range from those with professional music experience to singers who do not read music, and range in age from teenagers to octogenarians. The Washington Master Chorale is a vibrant 50-voice mixed chorus, comprised of professional and volunteer singers, that focuses on choral repertoire that emphasizes music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Chorale uses interdisciplinary collaboration to present choral works within the context of their culture and time. The Chorale is dedicated to the expansion of the choral canon, and maintains this commitment by annually commissioning choral works by leading American composers. The Choir of The Church of the Epiphany consists of professional section leaders and volunteers. The Manassas Chorale was founded in 1994, and the original group of about 25 singers has since quadrupled in size to become a 100-voice auditioned organization. The mission of the Chorale is to promote a greater appreciation and enjoyment of high quality music, both classical and contemporary, throughout the greater Manassas community.
