Microsoft said it's laying off 10,000 employees and Amazon started a fresh round of job cuts in what’s expected to become the largest workforce reduction in its 28-year history. Shootings involving kids raise concerns over access to guns

U.S. mayors gather to discuss issues affecting communities

More than 200 mayors have traveled to Washington for the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Winter Meeting. During the meeting, they will discuss policy initiatives for cities and meet with federal officials, including President Biden. Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, a Republican, and Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, a Democrat, joined Amna Nawaz to discuss this week's meetings.
Texas prisoners protest against solitary confinement

Dozens of inmates in Texas prisons have been staging a hunger strike for more than a week. They want a change in the way prison officials use indefinite solitary confinement. About 3,100 Texas prisoners are now in solitary and hundreds of them have been held that way for more than a decade. John Yang discussed the strike with Paul Flahive of Texas Public Radio.
