Gulf Coast preps for Ida landfall, possibly a Cat 4 storm

Evacuations are underway as the U.S. Gulf Coast prepares for the arrival of Hurricane Ida. New Orleans is expected to be in the center of the storm. Ida made landfall in Cuba on Friday after which it quickly moved to the Gulf of Mexico. At the same time, hospitals are at capacity as COVID-19 cases surge in the region. Ken Graham, director of National Hurricane Center joins.

    A landmark climate report released this month by the United Nations predicted dire consequences for the world if more is not done to reduce CO2 levels in the atmosphere. More than 100 countries including the U.S. have committed to a goal to become carbon neutral by the year 2050. One of the biggest challenges to meeting that goal is making homes energy neutral. Willem Marx reports.
