More than 240 people died after a London-bound Air India flight crashed into a hostel at a medical college just moments after takeoff. A federal judge heard California's challenge of President Trump's deployment of the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles to assist during protests and immigration raids. The administration argued troops have the right to be there to protect law enforcement. California Gov. Newsom called the actions a power grab that violate the Constitution. Downey residents react as immigration raids shake community

With parts of Los Angeles under curfew, that city has been quieter for a second straight night. As many as 700 Marines could soon be on the streets, joining thousands of National Guard troops.
