The Church of Pammegiston Taxiarchon
S44 E5 - 2m 8s
Outwardly self-effacing, this magnificent little church in the town of Milies on Mount Pelion opens into a world of unexpected beauty and reverence - including an inventive sound system which makes it the perfect space for the intimacy of a Chamber Music Society concert. Scholar John Hale and Father Konstantinos Koukouvinis give us an exclusive tour.
Beethoven's Humor
S44 E5 - 1m 46s
Humor is not the first thing you think of when you hear the name of Ludwig van Beethoven intoned. And yet, as Paul Neubauer, Tara Helen O'Connor and Aaron Boyd, the three performers of his Serenade in D major for Flute, Violin, and Viola, attest, he was not averse to indulging an impish spirit in this unusual piece, performed at the Church of the Archangels in Milies, Greece.
