WETA Kids In My Neighborhood Writers and Illustrators Contest

WETA Kids Writers Contest

WETA Kids is encouraging children in grades K-3 throughout the Washington Metropolitan area to write an original story, poem or piece of non-fiction using the following prompt:

What happens in your neighborhood? What do you wish could happen there? Tell WETA Kids with your story starting with the words:

“I walked out into my neighborhood and…”

Children will have the opportunity to win great prizes at the local level. Don’t forget to spread the word; the local class, after-school or child care center that submits the most entries to WETA Kids will win children’s books and a visit from a famous PBS character!

There will be first, second and third place winners at each grade level. First place winners will have their stories made into a hardcover book! Additionally, the area school which submits the most entries will get a free classroom library of books and a visit from a PBS Kids costume character.
