Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Kid Pan Alley, which teaches children the art of songwriting, with a community concert marking the release of KPA's newest album and the donation of their archives to Mason Libraries’ Special Collections. With over 2,700 hundred KPA songs written with 65,000 children, the Kid Pan Alley Band and Founder Paul Reisler's band Three Good Reasons will be performing some of their favorite songs from the vast KPA catalog along with Reisler’s compositions.
Kid Pan Alley empowers children to work together to become creators of their own music, and to rekindle creativity as a core value in education. Through their hands-on classroom residencies and community partnership programs, KPA’s professional teaching artists work with children of all ages to foster self-expression, teamwork, and community conncection. Their songs have been recorded by professional artists including Amy Grant, Sissy Spacek, Delbert McClinton, Cracker, Kix Brooks, and have received numerous honors including a Grammy nomination and a Washington Area Music Association "WAMMIE" Award.
Kid Pan Alley's 5th studio album, released in honor of its 20th anniversary, features songs written with kids, for kids – performed by some of the best-known children’s artists in the country, including Lisa Loeb, Randy Kaplan, Sonia De Los Santos, Bill Harley, Robbie Schaefer, John McCutcheon and many more.
