Visual artists from the Fairfax Art League, as well as others from across Fairfax and Northern Virginia, share their creative efforts in a special exhibit that runs from April 12 through May 31. At the free wine-and-cheese opening reception held on April 26, the City of Fairfax will award a variety of “Best of Show” honors to many of these fine artists. In addition, the highly respected local musical ensemble Síor-Óg will perform 17th- and 18th-Century Celtic Baroque music. Síor-Óg comprises Jean Mulherin, a Peabody Institute graduate, on violin and vocals; Marsha Kelly, who holds a Master of Music in guitar performance from Southern Methodist University and studied under Spanish classical guitarist Andres Segovia, on classical guitar and vocals; and Howard Rhile, Baroque music composer and arranger, as well as Temple University School of Music graduate, on a variety of Irish whistles.
Both the exhibit and the opening reception are perfect events for the entire family.
This event is included in the Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts Festival schedule.
